The Plan

I really would rather knock this out in one day and be done with it, but unfortunately I really can't take the day off right now. So, I am settling for Silver and still struggling to work it all in. I will have to schedule the vacation day next year. The Plan as it stands now (weather could be a big factor): April 10 (The real birthday) I am tackling the swim first. There is an open swim from 7-9 at the pool in the morning, which works out fine because I have to be in court by 10:00. Hopefully… Continue

Hey Kevin,

Just stopped by to be nosey... :) (that's the female in me) Noticed you were a 46'r too and I just had to compare times. You did awesome.!!!! Congrats!!!! Since I'm a wimp and hate getting out in the cold, I did all mine indoors, the ride was on my Spinning Bike, the run on my treadmill, all of which is in the basement. My bike was quite a bit faster than yours.....hehehehehe.... Obviously, I had NO wind, very very few hills, No rain. and watched a couple of Ironman DVD's while I was riding and running to keep me motivated. So far my birthday I bought myself a necklace and had it engraved on the back with 4 SM 46 BK 6 RN. Here's a pic.

Did the bike yesterday. Was chilly outside of Cleveland. Started in about 44 degrees and it began to rain about mile 20. Did my 46 in 2 hours and 54 minutes. Slow, but the 2nd half was in rain and wind - I was fairly miserable by the time it was done. Finishing the whole thing, however, felt wonderful! This challenge is great.

The run. Just finished up my 6 mile run. Official time is 51:49. Felt faster than that, maybe that 4 miles of swimming took something out of me yesterday.

Quick Update (won't be able to load videos until next week)
As fate would have it, yesterday was a beautiful day here in Rochester and I headed inside to swim. All in all it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I got to the pool early and in just a little under two hours 1:45 (including two tinkletorium breaks and a lot adjusting of my goggles) I was able to get 3 miles in. Zoomed off to court and was back in a different pool by 11:15 (court break was about 2.5 hours) to finish my last mile, which took me 37 minutes. If there was such thing as a walking pace while swimming I certainly found it during the last mile. It was nice that the 2nd pool was much cooler - it cooled down my overheated and sore shoulders. I am doing my 6 miles around 2:30 today, and will probably have 45 degrees and some rain to deal with. Too bad I couldn't have done everything yesterday, because it was a beautiful day (just fate getting back at me for spreading this thing out over 3 days).

go out slow....and finish slower! I totally lost count a hundred times...the only way I'm 90% sure I did the distance was from my splits. I didn't have the luxury of a lap counter (Tri-boomer) or someone to draft off of (Tri-boomer)...ehem...hope you have fun out there!

Yes, the swim does separate the men from the boys.

But I'm sure you'll do great. Take you time and take plenty of breaks.

Good Luck!
