Tim Martindale WOW! Gold challenge completed!

WOW!! What a way to spend my birthday. The biggest part of my day was to see how the swim was going to go. My plan was to swim the first part of the swim as an Ironman distance event (2.4 miles). The longest that I have swam out until today was 1.2 miles for the California 70.3 event. I started my swim with the mind set of getting the 2.4 miles out of the way at an Ironman pace. As I was getting to the end I felt so good that I just kept swimming and finished the whole 4 miles in one shot! Yeah… Continue

Joe_h hate it when life (and death) gets in the way

had bad two weeks of very little training. We had two funerals one expected and one unexpected and thenhad some work deadlines that just killed my energy to try and train. my training total for the last 14 days a 5k run, a 8 mile run and a 10 mile run. good news is I finally broke 20 minutes for the 5k and the 3 yr old and 5 yr old completed their first 1 mile runs. they were racing their cousins and finished w/ no pain and said they had fun. so that's good news. Tim Martindale Bodyglide review!!

I got a chance to try out two samples of Bodyglide the Anti-chaffing and Sun Screen Stick (SPF 25) I have used the regular Bodyglide in the past mainly on the Swim and Bike portion of my training and events. So I started out by using the Sun Screen Stick for my Ocean swims. I used it on my neck, under my arms and around my calves. Around my neck and arms it worked as good as the standard Bodyglide and it is nice knowing that I have Sun Screen on also. Around my calves, it seems to stick more to… Continue

})i({RunnerGirl 1/3 of the way to BRONZE

I have decided that due to life's circumstances, I need to go for Bronze AND include my races in the challenge. I am fine with this as honestly - I am doing a lot this week! Sunday was the official start of my challenge, Monday was spent recovering from my race the day before hand and then Tuesday was spent running around with Mike due to job issues - he got a new job Tuesday! I managed a bike workout though, so that is pretty cool. Here is the rundown so far: TOTAL COMPLETED IN CHALLENGE/… Continue

Joe_h Bodyglide review

I got a chance to try out two samples of Bodyglide the Anti-chaffing and Sun Screen Stick (SPF 25). I was prompted to try these out after a nice five mile run I developed a grotesque blister on the side of my big toe. I tried out the Anti-chaffing first applying it to my toes, inner thighs and nipular region. After a nice 7 mile I am happy to report I developed no blisters and had no chaffing issues on my thighs or chest. I got similar results with the Sun Screen Stick. I found both Bodyglide p… Continue

having a pretty great week of workouts so of course my knee decides to start to hurt. But it's not during or after a run or a bike it's when I'm sitting too much or get out of the car from driving. Still my knee is not happy about something so I'll play along and take today off and see what happens. That is best considering I'm doing the longest ride of my year tomorrow on the hilliest course I could find probably a good idea to rest up a little. Continue

Jan Musil Finished bike 36mi just before midnight

Do I get extra points for finishing the gold challenge in less than 12 hours? Just kidding. That was actually a goal that kind of evolved during the day. The big unknown was the swim and once I had it behind me and regained the balance (I was like off balance for an hour or so from being in horizontal position for so long). Anyways the bike is done I'll now go get some food to refuel and tomorrow I guess I'll take the race easier than usual. The bike time was 2:11:13. Continue

Mixed the juice with water and drank it few minutes before getting on the bike. The taste was not the best one, but also not the worst from all the supplements I tried so far. Yesterday it was my birthday and I took the challenge of doing all 3 events within 24 hours on weekday when I had to work at least 6 hours. Other challenge of planning 4 miles swim, 9 miles run and 49 miles ride in Tucson in May is that it could be very hot so the hours available to do the run and ride become limited too. I heard about the challenge on the Ironmantalk Podcast one day and it sounded like something to keep me going through the month of May (my bday is May 29th). I thought the 3 mile swim was going to be the toughest of these distances, but due to a half marathon 2 days ago (I'm still walking stairs one at a time - graduated from walking down backwards though) my legs were not in the best shape and these 8 simple miles SUCKED big time! GG Iron Guy One down two to go

Very happy to say that I just finished my longest swim ever! 3 miles done, 38 mile bike ride coming up, it looks beautiful outside and should be a very pleasant ride. 3 mile swim in 1:47:11 (I did take about 10 minutes in breaks, so actual swimming time was 1:37:24) Time for a ride Continue

(planning to go out 20 and back 15, which should catch me up with the LETR runners) 1030 hours: Drop bike into LETR trailer and begin 5-mile run. 1115 hours: Done with ru… Continue

My birthday is on Thursday and for the B-fit bday to be a true challenge I have to do it in 24 hours, since every week I do more than my triathlon distances with my regularly schedule workouts and using my bike as mode of transportation. The other challenge is that I work on Thursday, so I am arranging my events around work hours. Fortunately I have some flexibility and could start at 9 and leave a little earlier around 3:30. So the schedule is to wake up really early (4 AM) and run to a public… Continue
